Yeah, we should point out

Out here, the forty nine percent said it didn't change their view of pensions whatsoever.

But it's still one in five who are saying that they've lost faith.

Um, which is a real shame because as we always say on this podcast, it's the bedrock of anyone's retirement is your personal pension.

You know, you have tax relief, you have the long term gains from compound interest, and you've got the employer uh contributions for el eligible employees.

So all of those things mixed together, it is

a incredibly great way to save over many decades that's gonna hopefully give you a very good retirement.

Fuck.

You start throwing this into inheritance tax purposes and people like a lot of financial products, if you start kind of mucking around with them, people start to panic or start to believe that they're gonna fall into the net of this.

And actually we should point out here that uh at present inheritance tax affects around about four to five percent of estates.

Uh it's believed that that's gonna rise to seven percent uh in the next tax year and it will trickle higher than that, probably.

one in ten, I would suggest, uh, within the the next few years.

I I don't think it's a great strategy when, you know, on one hand, we don't know what the future of the state pension is going to look like and we are being told to save hard into our private pensions to make sure we have the retirement that we want.

And on the other hand, saying actually this is now going to be uh included in estates.

And as Simon said, really it's just to make a little bit more money.

It does feel like a bit of an own goal.

But what I would say is if you're listening to this, don't

panic too much about this.

Keep saving for your retirement, keep saving into your private pension.

And at the end of the day, when you hit retirement age and however you end up taking your pension, I think it will just sharpen people's minds and focus.
