And there are there are a lot of older people in this country that I would suggest also come into retirement age and they've got a nice retirement pot and they they're quite thrifty.

They don't really spend their

pension pot and are kind of very sensible with it, which is of course a great thing, but also can be to the detriment really now, especially with these new rules.

And I think there probably will be a bit of a case of spend a little bit more, enjoy your retirement.

And I know you guys last week spoke about uh the sort of care crisis in this country and the and the expense of uh you know later life care is vast.

I mean I've had some emails loud on my desk this week and some of them

monthly outlay for care is absolutely astronomical and really does cut eat into retirement depending on

how many years if you end up in a home.

Um, it's absolutely incredible.

So all those factors at play, I think

Older people, especially people in their sort of sixties, seventies now, late sixties, seventies now, uh you know, are probably looking at this and I think it just pays to have a very careful plan of what you're gonna do.

If you if you are someone in that boat that has a sizeable retirement pot.

But again, as Simon says, this is gonna probably affect people more in the decades to come rather than one of those things that's gonna hit people strongly.

Of course some people will get swept into the net, but it will become, I think, a bigger issue uh in the decades to come.

I I think it's one of those fascinating things in British life where uh you get a lot of people that say I've held premium bonds all my life and I've never won a bean, as you say.

Uh and then you find out they've had like a one pound bond from like the nineteen sixties or something, and you think, Well, with average luck, of course she's not one I think dear.

But this most recent draw, someone has won a million quid from a bond that was bought in February, and it got me thinking
