Regards, Mike Now immediately, I was on the phone to Mike asking if this was some kind of goof.
I could instantly tell that he was serious.
He was skeptical, sure, like he'd said, the old ladies didn't have the best eyesight.
But what other animal could they have mistaken for a crocodile or alligator?
Mike and I tried to come up with some alternatives.
A huge, crawling dog?
That hardly seemed likely.
A Komodo dragon?
That would have been even worse, really.
A snake?
That's still not great.
And after that, we were out of ideas.
We knew one thing, though.
The neighborhood watch had to be extra vigilant at night until we were sure that we'd seen the last of Crocodile Bum D as we took to calling him.
A pun on the movie character Crocodile Dundee for you youngsters out there.
You should watch it, though.
Thankfully, my kids were both at summer camp for the next month and my wife was currently working nights at the hospital.
So I was being a bit of a night owl myself to make sure that I got to spend some time with the love of my life instead of missing each other like the ships in the night.
