And it's been an absolute joy working with him.
And hopefully we can continue to do that for a long time yet.
his statement of intent was he came back from Washington and he had a month's break from their season finishing and he wanted to come straight in and get training with the lads and get to know the lads and get fit and I think what shocked the players and it didn't shock me but more so the players is his determination and his drive and his will to win is something that you need to be around because it makes you a leader and it makes you a winner and I think he comes in he's not a big talker Wayne
He's not a big talker.
He does his talking on the pitch.
He'll have little one-to-one conversations with the young players, but he lets his football do the talking.
And that's what we needed probably at the start of the season.
We needed a few more characters and leaders in the dressing room, especially for the young players to give them the right role models and the right ways of being in training.
Training is vital now.
You need to have that winning effort every single day.
You need to have competition in training.
And Wayne brings that in abundance and it's lifted everybody in the squad.
it's been an incredible season, you know, for me in my first role at first team coaching, the amount of experience that I have from COVID-19 from, from obviously really difficult things happening off the pitch.
Um, what I would say is that we, we have, we lost Tomori, um, uh, Wilson, uh,
and Mason Mount from our team last year so we have to try and replace those three and what we've done is we've replaced those three with young players we've tried to bring in the young players who've been outstanding for the academy at this football club and we're actually only five points away from the total that Derby were at last season so amongst all of the pain and there's been a lot of pain especially at the start of the season
I really feel now that we're on the right track.
You know, the players understand the way we want to play.
We want to play a possession-based game of football.
We want to entertain the fans.
And I think over the last two or three months, we've certainly done that.
