There's a lot of kind of factors within this.
This kind of balances out more across the season to get a better indication of team style.
But this is passes per sequence, so
how long a team has possession for kind of each time before the they turn it over.
Um and direct speed, which is measured in meters per second, and it's just how quickly the ball is going upfield towards your position goal during those sequences.
So we're sort of seeing how long the teams have the ball for and also how quickly they're getting it upfield.
Now as we've just spoken about with Hull, it's no surprise that they are in the very top left corner of the graphic because not only are they not having the ball for very long, they're sending it upfield pretty much all the time.
Um and City are at the opposite end of that, so kind of exactly where you'd expect Manchester City to be, patient and with long sequences.
I'd say so.
I think people will make a big argument for set pieces, but I think kind of in open play at the very least it's something that I think almost every coach puts a huge amount of stock into.
It's something you can go back to give or take a decade ago where Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool were seen as kind of outliers and very different in terms of saying well, we want to be really physical, actually building our style around what we do when we don't have possession sounds a bit mental when the whole game of football is about having the ball.
But saying okay, actually we can use
This is a way to create chances to stifle opponents.
Um, and you look at the leading teams now.
I mean, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain as a Champions League final built on two teams who were really, really phenomenal pressing sides.
PSG, I think, got to that level because they improved their out of possession side of things.
They went away from the kind of um the the messy Neymar kind of era of saying just by quality players are saying, No, let's get Usman Dembele who will score goals, but also if he's gonna run 20-30 times a game to press.
An opposition centre back or an opposition goalkeeper.
And as we talked about a couple weeks ago, in terms of the the three B's in the Premier League, Bournemouth, Brentford, and Brighton, their good recruitment.
They're also three sides that are really, really effective when they haven't got the ball.
