Where that shows up in an individual contributor is,
is, and we've got tons of research on this with lots of different customer service, sales, patient support, a lot of different titles.
The person who shows up with the very transactional mindset is thinking about themselves and their metrics and trying to get it done.
And a lot of those people are very well-intended people who just want to do a good job.
So no shade.
They're not thinking, I wonder if I could get into your wallet before you leave.
No, they're just trying to get their job done.
They're just trying to get their job done.
But what we also know is the noble purpose mindset is around making a difference.
I'll give an example outside this world.
The difference between a teacher just pounding on test scores versus a teacher trying to help you ignite your own love of learning.
We know whose classroom we'd rather be in.
And we also know whose test scores are going to be better.
And we even all point to those teachers who are that way.
But the difference between the transactional and where people might be going down the street to the big company, even though that big company may take a very transactional approach to their customers, they've been smart enough to train their people in some best practices that are customer engaging.
Because they know you can't just whisper in people's ear, sell more, close more.
That doesn't work.
Instead, find out what the customer's dealing with.
Find out what impact this is having on their life.
Find out what the win for them is.
