They will quit caring, will quit going the extra mile, but they will stay on your payroll.

I stole it from somebody else.

And so the thing that we're hearing from organizations is that they're being challenged on these dual lanes.

The financial pressure is very real.

But what they often miss is the numbers.

I'll say it again.

The numbers are a lagging indicator.

Now, somebody's got to sit down and figure out what's our margin?

How much time can we spend with people?

Like, those are all very real constraints.

But in the day to day, the leading indicator is how do my people feel?

How do my people feel about their patients?

How do they feel about each other?

Because the feelings drive the internal dialogue, which drives the behavior, which actually produces the revenue and profit.

And I want to be super clear on this.

It doesn't mean you have to give away the store.

Set a decent margin.

Don't make your people be thinking about money every single day, though.

They need to be thinking about their patient, about their team, because that is the leading indicator.
