You know, it's just a joy.
And then you manage to get back to the man you fell in love with and, you know, you remember all of the reasons that you fell in love and what's been the glue that's kept you together.
Don't worry, I kissed my frogs before I met Pete.
Yeah, exactly.
It is.
If you're not getting that, you know, life is just kind of flatlining.
And that's the thing with any brand that you ever work on.
If you think that you are the brand and the brand won't survive without you –
that's guaranteed misery because once you're no longer attached to it.
And, in fact, I remember just before I went on maternity leave, here in this very building, again, so many of life's moments were significant in this building.
And I was heavily pregnant with Louis, our second child.
And one of the other editors in the building came up and congratulated me and said...
you know, I heard that you're actually going to leave Clio.
You're giving up the job.
And I said, yeah, I really feel like it's time to pass the baton on to the next generation of editors because, you know, I've been in this spot for 10 years and I want somebody else to have that joy and I want to have other joys outside of work.
And she said, so you won't be editor of Clio anymore?
And I said, no.
And she said...
But you know that once you don't have that job anymore, you won't get invitations to first nights and they won't be sending you free product anymore.
And I remember thinking, oh, my God, you need to get out of this building much more than I do because if that's the way you see your job.
