But, you know, they were always kind of cool on Adams.
You know, Cuomo was someone that they recognized,
you know, Cuomo's political career was ascendant when a lot of these guys' business and financial careers was ascendant in the 90s.
And so it was familiar.
But, you know, there's a lesson here in sort of broader democratic politics, you know, that happened in 2016, you know, where the machine, the elites say what you want, like try to kind of steer the ship in a way that doesn't really align with what their voters want.
And not only do they lose,
But they lose a lot of credibility in the process and they set themselves back and kind of nobody is happy.
And so I think we're in that moment right now where we're going to try to see how much influence this community is going to try to exert.
And frankly, like, what does their money buy them?
Because it didn't buy them a primary win.
So, you know, we'll see from here.
The other thing that's worth remembering is like New York has always to some degree relied on its billionaires.
Right.
Going back to the Gilded Age.
Right.
They create these social and civic institutions.
They pay a lot of the taxes.
But for a lot of New York City's history, the capital class relied on New York City.
It needed those workers.
It needed that infrastructure.
