So essentially the learning support coordinator supports the SENCO, but in our school, that role became one person.

So I drink, you know, one day there'll be someone else that can support me, but the learning support coordinator, really they're,

There is so much paperwork.

There are so many, like, I struggle to get through how much paperwork I need to do.

So filling out a referral form.

obviously getting consent from the parents, putting in the form there'll be questions about, you know, what you've already tried and giving examples of that, you know.

So for me, as week on week on week, I'm always trying to keep on top of my referrals and Fridays of the day where I'm like... Paperwork.

Yeah, and I'll quite often be at school quite late trying to get those referrals through because...

urgency is kind of a word that is top of mind.

Like you can't just let this roll into next week and then roll in.

So I guess in my role as a SENCO, I'm looking at learning needs.

I'm looking at wellbeing and then I'm kind of creating that relationship between home and school.

So those are my main roles.

And learning needs and wellbeing kind of go together.

I connect the dots between the teacher, the whānau.

the outside agencies and the student.

And top of mind for us, another acronym, is RTLB referrals.

So that's a resource teacher for learning and behaviour.

And so we're so lucky in our school to have great RTLB support, a really awesome RTLB liaison who I meet with weekly.
