The current Sunshine Protection Act introduced in the Senate originally in 2018, then again in 2021, then in 2022 has been reintroduced again here in the House in 2026 and passed and sitting with the Senate.
So there's this long history of daylight savings.
And ultimately, the main critique is that it just needs to be the same across the board, whether it's early or late, whatever.
Yeah, I got a question.
It's basically a trade-off if you want time in the morning or time at night.
And that's the question we'll get into.
Daylight in the morning.
Well, it's are you going to adopt the permanent summertime or the permanent winter time?
Let's just clarify terms because I think we need it at this point.
What we do currently is we switch twice a year.
Spring forward one hour and fall back.
Everyone hates it.
There's been permanent standard time, which is what Steve's talking about, where we stop switching.
We keep the quote unquote natural clock, which has lighter mornings and darker evenings and happens to be recommended by most sleep scientists and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
And then what Congress is passing is permanent DST, which is to lock the clocks one hour ahead forever.
Lighter evenings, darker mornings.
Well, until they change it again.
