And then I realized when our whole world went virtual, well, presence is not just about how you see me and how I'm showing up in person, but where is your presence felt?

Where are you being seen?

Because now we have a video presence.

As you mentioned, Karen, we have a LinkedIn presence.

We have presence in the small talk conversation at the start of a meeting in the way we send that Slack message.

And I really wanted to

Make it clear that presence was this formula, how and where you are seen.

It's not just about executive presence and those big high-stakes moments, but rather our reputation and our presence and trust and credibility are built in those sometimes seemingly small moments that we have throughout the day, but they happen much more frequently.

And so we need to be really intentional about those if we want to grow our careers.

Yeah, so it's really about making sure that you're being seen by the right people at the right times, in the right places.

So executive presence, I think for a lot of people, there's sometimes certain connotations with it.

There's yeah, there's people who think, Oh, I'm at a certain level, that's not really something I have to address right now, or you think, oh, it's only again for those high-stake situations.

But I really wanted others to realize that presence is something that we can and should be working on throughout our entire career and it doesn't need to be

this big thing, but rather there's a lot of tactical steps as you saw in the book, small steps that you can take every day, small adjustments you can make to things you're already doing to create a presence and to create a strong reputation for yourself.

I don't want to say I don't know if laid back is the right word, but no maybe not realizing how much control you have over it.

I think when it comes to presence and and our careers, it can be so easy, like you said, Karen.

Oh, I'm I'm working hard, of course, I'm going to get recognized, or oh yeah, I I of course I know or my manager knows that I want to get promoted.

And you realize or I realize the hard way and and others might learn over time that you have to be really intentional about this and you have to adopt the mindset of becoming the CEO of your own career.
