We were kind of having a little discussion about what's going on.
And he sees the game obviously a little different than I see it.
And he brings up certain things.
And one of the things that came up was Selke winners.
And I went down the rabbit hole of Selke winners in the NHL.
And if you look at it, there's a major correlation between Selke winners and Stanley Cup winners.
It's incredible.
28 players that have won the Selke since its inception back in 1978.
I believe only two players.
two players, have not at least got to a final.
And that's just, I'm still crunching it more, but when you look at those Selkie winners in correlation with the years their teams were successful, so what does that tell you?
That tells you that you have a player in the forward group that's playing a certain way that's really, really hard to play against.
And I would point at both Carolina.
I would say Jordan Stahl probably has been in the mix and looked at as maybe a Selkie winner and probably, you know, maybe could have won one a couple of years, but maybe didn't put up the points necessary for a Selkie winner in today's era.
I look at Jack Eichel.
I think he's super underrated at how he plays the defensive side of the game, could easily win a Selkie.
I look at William Carlson, who's another player who they got back in the playoffs, who is healthy, who was a hard, hard matchup and a tough guy to play against in any situation for John Twitter really has to send him.
And then he can match up against anybody he wants and never has to fear that matchup, which is incredible.
There's a correlation there.
So we talk defense wins championships.
