But I think the topic of discussion here in this off season is how can this team be
Be a better defending team, the harder team to play against, and I think it starts right there.
When you have players that are playing the right way and leading by example in that regard, good things happen to your team.
Yeah, absolutely.
Anytime you can add a top six forward to your group, especially in this group.
this core um i would argue that's one of the things we've talked about at length over the last three or four years are those players that are elevated up into that top six that are demoted back down to the bottom six and i mean i know people hate the first to fourth line kind of uh theories but that's really what it is it's the the ice time kind of dictates where they slot into those positions but if you're going to play with conor mcdavid leon dry saddle there needs to be
you know, an ingredient there that you're bringing to the table that's going to benefit that line on a regular basis.
And for the most part, for me, it's not just about putting the puck in the net, but that's kind of what it boils down to.
You have to be a finisher.
If you're not a guy that's digging out pucks out of the corner, if you're not the speedy guy on the forecheck, if you're not the big physical guy in front of the net.
Todd Coles is a prime example.
He does the little things.
His goal scoring's starting to come, but everybody wants to play with him because he's the player that goes out there and does the right things.
He's a great back checker.
He's got a defensive conscience.
He's got a strong stick.
So for me, he complements that line.
And that's why both Connor McDavid and Leon Dreissel, I think if they're being honest, they would like to have them on their left wing.
