I get by.

But when someone in an English class challenges my English, I'm thinking, wow, that is really interesting.

And I think when somebody does something similar, when we can get curious about it rather than taking offense, it changes the dynamic.

So, right.

I mean, when I was challenged in a, in a class, it was also fascinating because the person who was, um, actually he was criticizing my German and my English, um, was non-German themselves living in Germany.

And I thought I had a lot of compassion for them because I think there was some, a lot that they had to overcome in their childhood growing up in Germany as a non-German.

And I think whatever bad day they were having, because it was nothing to do with me, was reflected onto me that they'd suffered.

So it's always fascinating how people deal with this and what we get in the way.

Yeah.

And there was something else you mentioned about meetings and about grumpy bosses.

I think when we're particularly, as I have a lot of non-native, so multilingual clients, when we're in a meeting and someone is visibly or saying things, maybe visibly looking upset at us or looking displeased, I think we have a tendency to think that it's us.

And we don't know that until we ask them.

Absolutely.

Having the confidence to address something and say, I'm sorry, you're looking concerned or I noticed this.

Is this, you know, would you like, you know, there's something you need to communicate to me.

Because some of the time it's something else that they're trapped in, whether it was a conversation with their partner, whether they've just eaten, they've got indigestion.

You know, we read faces and we presume that we're wrong and we're the ones making the decisions.

Yeah.

And also give people a benefit of the doubt.

Maybe it's not me.
