It's Monday, the 20th of April.
Here's what's making headlines this evening.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers has foreshadowed some of the measures the government could implement in the upcoming federal budget, the first since the 2025 election.
At a press conference on Monday, Chalmers said the government would seek to reduce increases in the cost of the National Disability Insurance Scheme, or NDIS.
Chalmers also noted the US-Israel war with Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz had changed plans for the budget, limiting how much the government will earn in taxes over the next four years.
Separately, Finance Minister Katie Gallagher told ABC Radio on Monday morning the budget will include changes to some financial regulation and would focus on intergenerational equality.
The budget will be handed down at 7.30pm on the 12th of May and TDA will be in Parliament House to cover all the action.
And today's good news.
Australian golfer Hannah Green has won the prestigious LA Championship for the third time.
The world number eight won the competition in 2023 and 2024.
Her 2026 victory in Los Angeles means she has now won eight tournaments on the LPGA Tour,
the official season for the top level of women's golf, making her one of the five most successful female Australian golfers of all time.
It was also Green's fourth win from the five tournaments she's played in this year.
She headed straight from LA to Texas to play in the Chevron Championship, which is the first major tournament of the year.
So that's basically like a grand slam in tennis.
They also have them in golf.
I thought that story was so cool.
I don't know anything about golf, but I know what winning a lot means.
We'll be back tomorrow with another Deep Dive.
Until then, have a good Monday afternoon.
