It was my mother.
It was my sister.
It was my friends, the female friends who loved me and cared for me.
They were the ones who showed up.
They were the ones who came and said, like, we are going to help you.
We are going to protect you.
And we are going to make sure you get through this without taking your own life.
And that just, you know, reflecting upon that really made me see everything in such a different light.
And then it also became so evident to me.
how silent the men were and how silent the men in my life were during that period.
And I had to understand that
for them to speak up for them to not be silent means that they would have had to own all of the things in their life that they like that would have been i was holding up a mirror to them and they would have had to confront that and they were preferred to stay in silence because silence kept them safe yeah and now you see that all the time with everything's happening in the world and
It frustrates me to know.
And as I said, I was one of those men.
I was one of those men who said, not my problem, or I don't know any men like that.
I've, you know, like, I've got no friends who would do anything like that.
So, you know, not my issue.
That's somebody else's problem.
But it is us staying silent that allows those cultures to persist and says to men who do do those things that they are safe.
They're not going to face any accountability or consequences for doing that because they know that all the other men are going to stay silent about it.
