So even with the tattoos, like, um, it's like an artisanal culture and with the kokeshi, it's an artisanal culture.
Like actually many of my books, like kimonos is about the craftsmanship of tattoo, I mean, of, um, kimonos.
Um, like even with the cat project, like there's a lot of like artisanal, like, um, like almost all my books are somehow artisanal.
Like they've got like the artisanal philosophy in there.
And, like, we need, like, I can't imagine everyone is, like, reading all my books at the same time, but, like, they all have a common thread.
And so the philosophy of the artisan and the way that people think, like the makers, it doesn't matter if they're doing kokeshi or tattoos, it's really, really, really similar.
So, um, so it's, um, so there's that kind of like common commonality going through it.
Um, in terms of Kokeshi, like, so my mom is from the Tohoku region and so, um, that actually turned into an like unexpectedly huge project for me because, um, she lost her family house.
So, um, so that was like in, like, she comes from like a tiny little fishing village called Onagawa.
And, um, and it was like one of the worst hit places, um, like in terms of the tsunami.
And, um, and yeah.
So what happened was a lot of the tsunami evacuees, they were made into refugees and put into various places.
And so a lot of them ended up in hot spring villages in the Tohoku region.
Yeah, and so – but when you go to these hot spring villages, that's where they make the kokeshi.
And so normally when you're in Tokyo, like, you might see kokeshi in souvenir stores.
And they're one of the iconic things about Japan.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But, like, it's not like you see where they're made or anything.
But then when you go to Tohoku, there's, like, kokeshi everywhere.
Like, the whole identity of a town would be kokeshi.
