So he was sober for over 50 years.

But he kept sober by helping people.

His idea was, I'll take him to an AA meeting, I'll go to a meeting, it's not going to hurt me, or I'll take him to a program and it'll help me.

So he kept his sobriety by saying, these people keep fucking up, and I'm going to keep sober by helping these people that keep fucking up.

So I learned in a very different way of doing this, you know.

And I was like, I can make a pretty good living doing this because I have a higher – imagine if I wore a turban.

But as a brown criminal defense lawyer, I have a higher hurdle to overcome than somebody that was not brown basically, you know.

And so it's a huge thing to choose criminal defense or litigation as a brown person.

I know nobody wants to believe that.

It's the reality of life is what it comes down to.

So I chose it because I felt that the morality that you're busting my balls about makes a big difference in how your legacy is what you leave behind.

And then if you can make the world a better place.

So you, by doing this Utah thing and hopefully more teaching people, the client of mine that is willing to talk to people about how you can recover from the worst thing, hitting rock bottom and then some, it makes a big change in how we see the world.

And that's why I started questioning you.

The interview changed over about who was the interviewee and who the interviewer was, about how people that have this different dynamic backgrounds, how they can do better.

I mean, just having this conversation gives people hope

from the perspective of, hey, I went to jail.

I did 12 years.

I did 15 years.

Came back and turned my life around.
