I was wheeling him in a wheelchair.

So I had sent my husband off on the plane, you know, looking okay, healthy enough that we thought.

And I'm bringing him back, pushing him in a wheelchair.

It was just so surreal.

Scary.

Yeah.

And we actually came back to Kinvara that time.

We were in contact a lot with his doctors in Dublin and Galway.

And it was decided that he would do radiotherapy in Galway first.

So that was at the end of April by the time that got organised.

And it just absolutely knocked the stuffing out of him.

He was really, really nauseous instantly.

I mean, he was sick within an hour of having the radiotherapy.

He just got home.

and it was his birthday that week so that was a very subdued birthday I made him a sponge cake because that's what he liked but he just couldn't face it I said look we can stop you know people are coming over but we're not having that like we can just we'll do it another time I'll put your cake in the freezer we'll have it when you're feeling better so I got a picture of him with the boys with these little pottery I have little pottery cakes and things like that and I put birthday candles in them and I have a picture of James sitting on the couch with the three boys blowing out the candles

So he felt like at least he did that, you know.

And as the week went on, he was having radiotherapy five days that week and he was just so ill that they were saying, do you want to stop it?

And I said, James, you don't have to keep doing this.

You know, we can, we need to call it maybe.

And he just wouldn't though.
