It got to a point where I wanted to do kind of a fabric painting thing with James, where he would give us all a hug with paint on his arms and we'd have a T-shirt with his hug on.

But he just was too ill to do that.

And I think he felt really sad about that at the time because he just had no energy left.

This was coming to the end of October.

And as the days went on, he was having to have more and more of these top ups.

And they kind of said to me, look, it's probably time to reduce the TPN.

And they were talking to him as well.

He was there and he said, no, don't reduce the TPN.

I want to keep going.

So he wanted the feed to keep going, even though he was getting sick multiple times a day.

And they said, OK, James, well, we'll go with your wishes for now.

But if you get too sleepy, is it OK if Marion makes some of the decisions for you?

And he said, yeah, he kind of reluctantly agreed to that, but he was going to fight it with everything he had first.

Absolutely.

It's devastating.

And because it looked so often like he was about to die.

I was sort of getting ready in my head as if I'd ever be ready.

And then it would go again.

And you think, well, this is James.

I mean, they don't know what he's capable of.
