And we knew that he was coming to the end.

We didn't know.

Should he be at home for the very end of his life?

We weren't sure.

And how would that affect the kids?

As it happened, he was probably too ill by the end of his life to go home.

He needed just around the clock here.

So the way it happened was he was very nauseous and he still had a lot of pain, really, but they were very much on top of it.

But it would kick back in once the drugs wore off.

He was having constant top ups.

And as time went on, he was less conscious than he used to be.

And he'd be aware of things.

And actually, when he was conscious, the team in there were so helpful that they helped him to write letters.

I helped him as well.

We did letters to the kids.

And it turned out that he did a letter for me, which I didn't know about until after he died, which was so lovely.

So we kind of we had these things hanging over us.

We want to do this, that and the other.

We had done a lot of fingerprints, stuff like that.

We had the photos.
