That's right, Matt.
And um I I'd picked up a call from Martin Olden newsletter at the Tribune at the same time and so I just literally ran out the door.
I was all around sixty fourth street, jumped in a cab and I could get onto the FDR highway very quickly from there.
So we were speeding down, there was almost no traffic.
Um
And that would have been maybe less than five minutes after the the the um first plane had hit.
Uh by the time we came off the FDR onto exit two, which would be about a mile east of um the the um
World Tra Trade Center, uh we heard that that we were listening to this radio station, local radio station, the driver and I, and it was ten ten winds.
It was a New York station that everybody listened to.
Uh and we we were both assumed that it had been an accident.
And that's what I assumed when I spoke to Martin as well.
That had been an accident, but I get down there quickly.
And uh then the second plane.
uh hit while we were still in the taxi and the the taxi filled with the voice of the the um the ho the anchor uh that morning and you could hear the panic in his voice saying, Oh my god, another plane sit, another plane sit.
Now we could see the smoke because it was such a brilliant blue morning.
We could see the smoke quite clearly um g over east, over over the north tower at the time.
And I remember the driver um
He clutching a sort of a rosary thing and going just saying, Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ over and over.
And he dropped me at just near City Hall.
So I went down onto Park Place.
