Well, I I was there uh at the the conference in fact and that was very much react uh an indication of the kind of reaction.
Once upon a time, a declaration like this, which is unprecedented for an occupant of the White House to declare themselves to be fully uh in favor of United Ireland, once upon a time that would have been seen as a significant geopolitical moment.
It's not.
Um it's it it was a a a subject of humor on the uh at the uh at the SDL.
Conference, both on stage and off it, uh derision to a certain degree.
They also regard it as being useful because it does keep that conversation about unity, which is one that the SDLP wants to progress.
And I think I was saying to you before the programme there for for your Southern audience, uh people in the South really do need to start paying attention to the conversation that's taking place about unification in the North, because it's not being under
We're not at uh fifty plus one percent in favour of of a referendum, but support for unity in the north across suades of opinion that you wouldn't normally expect.
It's a conversation that's happening more and more and more.
If if anybody in in the Republic thinks uh that we're gonna get a United Ireland uh and that there isn't going to be a security price to be paid for it, then uh you know, we're all living in the in cloud cuckoo land.
Uh if we want the support of of the European Union and of Washington pr hopefully under more serious, uh sober leadership by then, uh there is going to be a question about about security and it's one that we would need to start thinking
never going to pay any attention to them.
