It's about addiction.
The subject matter is quite dark.

And it's got a scene of people listening to music in it.
I think we have to admit that the demographic is fairly niche.
I mean, the film is made with a lot of love and affection.
Its editing is very jazzy and non-linear.
I mean, we leap backwards and forwards.
Most of the film is in black and white, but there are these throw forwards to colour sections later on, which in a way is kind of interesting because it shows you the future whilst living in the past.
So you sort of know where all the individual stories are going by these other intermissions, which kind of break into the black and white.
The other thing I think we do have to say is it is a tale about people who are difficult to like.
I mean, none of them really know how to communicate with each other.
And it's a film in which people don't communicate with each other other than musically.
Actually, the most communication you see is in that opening sequence when he's playing the piano and he's looking at the bassist and the two of them are kind of... They are obviously completely in sync.
