How do you describe what it is?
A good example.
The gentleman who's now my vice president worked for one of our second-largest franchisees for six years.
I hired him to become a franchise consultant.
He had no idea.
He's like...
This is hard.
Where's the part where I just call them and see how they're doing?
But he did a great job.
He did exactly what he needed to do because he just came out of the field.
And I think he had an advantage because he just came out of the field and knew exactly what it was like to be in their shoes.
A lot of us that hire franchise consultants don't have FCs who have actually owned a franchise.
And you know this, Paul, unless you sat down on a Thursday night about midnight and you're trying to figure out how to make payroll, unless you've been there and had your top employee quit and you're trying to figure out what is that going to mean to the bottom line, you can have all the empathy in the world, but you just don't know.
Well, I was fortunate because I got in the whole franchise world when I was about 26 years old, a company called Connecticut.
It was a water software company.
And I spent my first five years of corporate, moved to Ohio.
And in those five years of corporate, Paul, I sat there and I hate to say it, but probably looked down to the franchisees because, boy, if they did what we talked about them doing, would they ever be successful?
I left corporate after five years and I went into the field.
as a general manager and then a partner in a Connecticut franchise.
And then I changed my tune, and I said, you know those guys at corporate?
