They have to fix the broken systems that create the polarization, the mental health difficulties.
Those systems, those algorithms should be our target.
And fixing them should be the real issue, I think, here, as opposed to saying a ban which then…
puts it on the onus on the kids and parents.
You're saying they need to fix their... Well, the key is technology is not inherently good or bad.
It doesn't have a moral compass.
And it's the people who make the design decisions, whether they're AI companies, social media companies.
We've got to rein them in, but most importantly, teach our kids and ourselves that we're not powerless.
that there's the beginning of a movement, I think, where this is why the ban is actually a good thing in one way.
It's shown us what we can do together to implement legislation.
But I think we just have to have a more honest conversation about where technology can be accelerated for good and where it needs to be reined in, where it's badly designed.
And that conversation is not here yet.
We have this kind of backlash, but we don't have a blueprint.
People coming along and saying, hey, we can do this better.
Not a ban, but let's be much more radical about the algorithms.
And also, maybe we will have bans in schools on phones, but ultimately there needs to be that balance.
I think seeing technology is something we can influence.
So all the people making predictions will be locked up in rooms somewhere.
Give me a range.
