So our characters moved into this studio house, revered artists, eerie at the top of a mountain.
Down the valley, which is also mysterious, there's rain.
And across the other side, there's another house.
which he can see, and it's a big, luxurious mansion.
Quite quickly, the inhabitant of this mansion, a guy called Menshiki, hears that our man is in the valley, is there, and he decides he's going to have his portrait painted.
And so...
His entry into the life of this character also begins this question about what is reality?
What's going on?
How much is sane?
How much is kind of beginning to slip into, I don't know, fantasy?
Metaphor?
Menchiki is an amazing character.
This is the neighbour.
He's got snow white hair, not one black strand and so he's already striking.
He's super rich and sleeks around in a late model Jaguar and then we find out he's got three other cars and he's always immaculately turned out, always perfectly polite, very punctual and very controlled in his manner and one of the thrilling characters, I think.
Oh.
Or did he?
Yes, because...
He didn't just inherit this space to work in.
