They just didn't write about any of this stuff.

So he was the first guy that came out and wrote about the Gulf War.

Did you really?

No way.

I remember reading it a couple of times at that age and just going, this is madness.

I have to join.

And I got him to sign – he did a book tour in Canberra.

I got him to sign it.

But, yeah, those two things were kind of what made me want to go that direction.

What did you have to do?

It was a bit tricky because I was at just a basic kind of school in West Australia.

We didn't really have –

any support outside of, you know, classes.

It was just a basic school.

So I had to get the right grades to get in.

But the officer stream is essentially if you go through, you'll get an undergraduate degree in something.

So you spend three years doing that.
