And then you get a year's worth of more direct kind of officer training.

And you graduate as a platoon commander, which is about 30 people.

So you're given a commission as a lieutenant officer.

And then you go and join an army unit as a platoon commander, which is – you know, it's a big responsibility for your early 20s and – yeah.

Oh, yeah.

And you're the fresh-faced kid.

My Sarge was – I think he was in his early 30s, and I remember him just going –

I've got a new keen bloke, you know.

Yeah, yeah.

But we became good mates and because you have the technical training and they have the experience and you've kind of got the leadership formal training, it just works.

That relationship would be crucial.

That relationship's 100% crucial because he generates the support of all the soldiers and you are kind of planning and working with your team leaders at the same time.

And did you find that you were enjoying it, the life in the Army?

I loved it, yeah.

I found Canberra hard.

I didn't love Canberra.

But after we left there, we went to an infantry unit in Townsville.
