You know, Benetton's always there around young drivers as well.

It's got Giancarlo Fisichella who looks really interesting.

I think Jano Trulli's sort of in the mix through Briatore owning Minardi by 97 as well.

So it's, again, looking at a teenager coming through F3 looking amazing at that point and betting the upside.

Eventually, you know, it's no surprise it's Benetton that picks up Jenson Button from Williams and then it bets on Alonso and it does all the same thing again it did with Schumacher.

It's not just, it's,

It's trying to replicate this magic of get a driver who is ahead of what everyone else is going to do and then create magic around them.

So it doesn't have another Schumacher.

So it can't repeat that success.

And the Alessi thing goes so catastrophically wrong, even though it was the right punt to take, that it plays a big part in the team fracturing.

And then suddenly you've got even less of a workable structure to plug the next star into and it takes ages.

This, it's sad because the Benetton story is a really cool one leading up to 1995, but I don't see what they could have done that wouldn't have had.

Maybe they would have shunted fewer cars in 96, but I still see all the main people leaving and Benetton becoming a third, fourth, fifth team for the next few years.

It depends entirely on Damon Hill and if Schumacher is in Damon Hill's head by the middle of March.

Because I think you've got two... There's a 50-point gulf between Alessi and Hill at the end of that season.

You kind of ignore that.

You can't work out race by race what would have happened.

But because Hill can go, Schumacher's moving on.

I'm not facing the same threat.

Hill is brilliant for most of 1996.
