Hated myself.

I think what happened later on was I was back into it when I was like 13, 14.

And my, you know, I'm not making excuses, but I'm contextualising.

My nan had died.

I'd moved school again because we had to move school at 14.

And there's lots of sort of turmoil going on.

I'd discovered alcohol.

I just wasn't feeling a very good...

I didn't like myself very much.

And so... You discovered alcohol.

What does that mean?

It means I used to get very drunk.

Well, 14, yes, I was starting to drink.

I was certainly starting to smoke at that age.

There were sort of like older boys and...

There was always an older boy who you would give the money to and then he would get you the alcohol.

All this guilt's coming back now, John.

My parents only noticed it when I got arrested.

Which is how you notice things.
