I think she must have.

But actually, I used to smoke ten cigarettes.

And I used to smoke all of them on an evening.

And then I'd wait half an hour before my mum... And I would have extra strong mints for my breath.

And on my route home, I remember, like, if there was a particular sort of smelling plant, I'd just pick up leaves and rub my hands lots.

And it probably didn't work.

But I...

They might have been in denial, but I never had that conversation.

It boots the chemist.

And I was showing off again to a couple of my friends.

Because by this point, and I may have been living in Nottinghamshire, but I'd fooled my foolish teenage brain into thinking I was like a modern-day Robin Hood.

Because...

I had these little rules.

I didn't, at this point, steal from small local businesses.

And I always gave... I stole things I didn't want and just gave to other people and stuff like that.

So I had this silly little fake moral code.

And so anyway, I went into Boots and the two items I stole, and I do remember this vividly, was a crunchy bar...

and some wet look hair gel, back in the days I had hair.

And it was the 1980s where everyone had wet look hair.
