to the U.N., Mike Walz, go on several Sunday shows yesterday talking about how this pause, which he acknowledged is happening, is to give some diplomacy a chance.
So clearly, they're still talking and trying to do that.
But there's also this reporting out from the New York Times that suggests that one of the reasons that the U.S.
has stood down from some of its attacks were because of this depleting stockpile of Patriot interceptor missiles that are so crucial to warding off and protecting U.S.
personnel and assets in this part of the world from those Iranian drone attacks.
So that's something that we've been watching for a while.
And according to that New York Times report, it does appear that that has also gone into the decision making for the president to kind of pull things back a bit.
And we don't have the ability to protect ourselves in the way that we would want to if, in fact, the escalation continued.
We are depleting...
these every day, despite the fact that we could face other potential conflicts around the world.
Because what we've seen over the past two weeks, we've seen Bahrain targeted, we've seen Kuwait targeted, we've seen Northern Iraq targeted, all the U.S.
assets that are in those parts of the world.
And yet it could get much more intense if the U.S.
were to step up its side of the equation as well.
So it does appear maybe it's a little bit of all of the above, a little diplomacy, a little bit of an inability to protect ourselves after so many months of war.
All of it leading to what we've essentially seen as a pause for the last couple of days.
I think at this point, even amongst those who are most in favor of the war, who most want to see the toppling of the government, the current government in Iran, I think there's kind of a broad acknowledgement now that after roughly five months of conflict, including the time there was the ceasefire there, it doesn't appear that you are going to topple the Iranian government with airstrikes alone.
We have seen thousands, literally thousands of targets being hit by the U.S.
military since late February when all this kicked off.
