And so if you're a Republican wondering, well, what is the exit strategy here?

How do we accomplish our goals?

You have to wonder how that's going to be achieved.

If the goal initially was to topple the government and to prevent them from getting nuclear weapons, well, it doesn't appear that either of those objectives have been accomplished at this point.

At the same time, you've got political pressures, you've got the midterms coming up, you've got gas prices going once again back north of $4 a gallon, and all of these Republicans, or at least most of them, have to go and be in an election in just a few months' time,

with their constituents wondering, why are my gas prices still so high?

And what am I getting out of this ongoing war?

So it is a bit of a pickle there, politically speaking, for the people who back the president.
