They want to show that they've done the research and they have the really smart questions and that they're the ones that the audience came to see.
And they're not.
So they overperform and overperform and overperform.
And some people can get away with that because of charisma or charm or whatnot.
But when I'm listening to a podcast because I'm interested in the guest, well, I
I already know that Jeff hosts an amazing podcast and that his audience is all about creators.
I know his resume and pedigree.
I don't know the guests and I want to learn about them.

As I was writing this book, I realized that the people that we often hold in the highest regard are the ones giving us the least.
And the ones that are the industry veterans, the the Terry Gross of you know NPR world, they're there after 30, 40, 50 years because they've mastered this skill.
of balancing the emotion and getting the information from the guests and keeping the questions short and just driving the conversation in a way that is interesting and unique.
And I love that.
I don't like being able to predict what the next sixty minutes is going to sound like.
And right there was that silence, right?
And if I'm interviewing someone, and I wanted people to hear that, right?
