Yeah, okay.
So it might develop.
Yeah.
So maybe the real principle determining how accurate these things are is how much the people participating in the market actually know how like how m how much their expert um how high their expertise is.
But maybe this is a mechanism for kind of getting everyone to be as much of an expert as they can be.
Laborious hiring process, blah, blah, blah.
and is the idea that like if I'm really terrible at making predictions I'm gonna run out of money and have to stop bidding?
And then if I am really good at them, I keep making more money and I get to make more predictions and
And maybe they have some practice from previous midterm cycles, and we know they're going to continue to be midterm cycles indefinitely.
So of course as a philosopher I wanna try to understand the, you know, sort of causal mechanisms behind things.
And I immediately start wondering, like, so what is it exactly that would make the predictions of a betting market more accurate than the predictions of, I don't know what, pick your favorite alternative, a panel of experts, I don't know, uh a a computer simulation, like a really sophisticated one, or whatever the alternatives are.
And the first explanation my brain goes to is like, well
You're really putting something on the line if you're going to lose money by making wrong predictions, so that turns up the stakes sufficiently high that people uh just end up kind of being more careful in their predictions.
Um is that kind of why they're more accurate?
Is there a paper we could point people to or uh that looks at um you know kind of a meta study of um different predictions that um presents some of the data on the increased accuracy of
Yeah.
I love it.
That's interesting.
Okay.
Okay.
