We were sort of holding our heads in our hands when it came out because our big point in the final week of the campaign was basically to try and appeal to, you know, some more of those sort of swing voters.
So having, you know, Nigel Farage front and centre wasn't helpful because we didn't they people didn't want to feel a voting UKIP by voting leave.
Um so A on that point.
Second point, just the way it was framed, it was very explicit, the breaking point idea.
Fast forward ten years, so now you have Keir Starmer.
we're talking about the UK being an island of strangers.
He said that last summer.
So it's much more common to use that sort of phraseology now.
But back in the day, back at that point in time, it was seen to be sort of beyond the pale.
And we didn't want to see the leave side to be so seen to be too extremist.
A few points on this.
I must address the Turkey point, which you brought it up I think three times now.
Um, yeah, the EU uh was on the record as saying they wanted Turkey to join the EU.
It's an accession country, still is a c accession country.
And also David Cameron was on the record saying he wanted Turkey to join the EU.
So I think that was fair game to say that.
