In terms of gear, well, just as you're saying it there, doing the trial run in the back garden was almost like a punctuation mark of my childhood growing up.
It would almost happen like two weeks before we'd go away camping with the family regularly and sleeping in the back garden in the tent with my dad was a great adventure whenever I was six or seven.
But yeah, as far as buying the gear or getting the gear, it is...
it can rack up quite a lot of expense.
So one of the best bits of advice is probably to ask around, ask if people have a family camping tent that's in their attic that they bought two or three years ago and they haven't been using.
Because that's a really good way of getting some of the gear and trying it out, especially if you're a first timer, right?
Like you don't want to go out and spend a thousand quid so that you can have your inexpensive holiday because it doesn't really make sense.
Well, I think the best thing to advise is to never light a fire.
That would probably be my number one thing because people do associate camping with lighting a fire and much like you can have a successful Brendan O'Connor show without Brendan O'Connor, you can have a successful night
camping without without building a campfire so having like getting a stove maybe preparing your food beforehand so you're not relying on it for cooking fires are terrible ways to cook food anyway it's really hard to regulate the temperature and especially at the minute like you
The ground is way too dry to be lighting fires.
I saw even if there wasn't a wildfire that was immediately caught that you created, there's a lot of damage under the ground that would take place as well unless you really know what you're doing and building a raised fire pit and stuff like that.
And all of those steps that you have to put into place
should really deter people from lighting fires in the first place.
So getting a nice gas cell is the way to go.
