This was literally beyond a collector's item.

It was a national moment for a national movement.

That is not going to be the case when the World Cup is over.

I mean, soccer, although I know having been covering the sport for a long time, seeing the reaction of everyone who was entranced by this tournament, it's going to be different.

There's going to be more of a profile.

But we're also looking at a situation now where what does covering the men's program in particular look like?

Jonathan David didn't have a great tournament.

And we really weren't focused on that because we were focused on an antihistoric run.

I don't think we talked enough about Alphonso Davies and the situation.

And not only from his perspective, but certainly Jesse Marsh's and Canada Soccer's perspective.

As a member of the media, how we cover the team has to evolve and change.

Because...

raising the level of the game is also raising the level of stories that we tell and it's very easy when it's a home world cup to get caught up and i i certainly was spearheading this the emotions of watching these guys represent the country on a national level but to raise the expectations to hold not it's not about accountability but to to increase the conversation and knowledge base about the game in the country it has to start with how we tell stories and um yeah what that looks like over the next four year cycle of a world cup

especially someone working in the media, has covered the team consistently.

I'm interested to see how that, apart from the corporate side of it, how that evolves too.

And listen, I will pay attention to the Alphonso Davies situation in this respect.

No one knows what it's like to be Alphonso Davies because he, from the men's program, he is unlike anything that this country has ever produced.

But you can certainly look at the situation that happened not only at this World Cup, but extend it back to the CONCACAF Nations League third place game.
