You know, you're kind of not parented in the same way.
So you often are this voyeur in your own home because no one's really paying attention to you, where the oldest child gets a lot of attention.
Especially different genders, too.

I wanted to scream, like scream when I was reading your book.
I wanted to tell Harper, get out of there.
I'm sure many readers wanted to scream, get out of there.
Like we're supposed to feel that way.
It's a suspense novel or a thriller.
I don't actually know the genre.
I'm going to talk about genre in a second.
But at the same time, like I understood the appeal of the wheel.
I think I get it.
Depending on where you are in your life and how much you need money and what you're up against and how, I guess, painted into a corner you might feel.
I understand because you humanize the characters so much.
And then I guess my question is, when you're writing, do you live vicariously through your characters?
And do you have a favorite?
Is it Harper, Pam, Debra?
