And between now and Christmas, I've read two fiction books, one of which we're going to be talking about today.
I don't know what that's about.
Well, they're everywhere, aren't they, throughout fairy tales and fiction.
The wolf that always comes to mind with me is actually one in theatre, in Into the Woods, a Stephen Sondheim musical.
There's a very funny, scary and dastardly wolf who really, if we were to view that musical today, you know, through a modern prism...
you know, he would sit very well in the land of the, you know, hashtag me too villains.
That was the only wolf I could really think of because over my reading life, I've always been a little bit more attracted to the literal.
I wasn't really a fairy tale kid.
I kind of always wanted to be reading about people
I guess, who are like me or like me in a different country or my age in a different time.
So I'm afraid that I'm not all that connected to the land of fairy tales and wolves.
But when I was reading this, it kept occurring to me that, you know, wolves are pretty much the greatest animal you can write about if you're wanting to attach some sort of symbolism of wildness.
We do, and Inti Flynn is somebody who has a condition that, with the reading of this book, I've come to think is more of a curse than a blessing.

And I was really surprised after reading about this in the book.
I thought I better do some Googling and see if this actually exists because it would be a really torturous condition to live with.
And it does.
And apparently it exists within one to two percent of the population.
