And it's this that sort of forms her whole personality for childhood, of which she's a twin.
That's the other really important thing that we need to know about Inti Flynn.
She's a twin.
And at this stage in the story, with this mirror touch synesthesia and this extreme sensitivity, she's kind of like the scared twin in a way.
She's the smaller of the twins.

And this is what kind of leads her younger life is she's in the shadow of this other twin, Aggie, who to her is full of life and bravado and bravery.
I think that it has given her probably what is the great gift of her life, which is this love and connection with nature.
For a long time during this book, she, in a way, not quite rebels, but she doesn't understand her mother's... So the homicide detective mother is very black and white about the fact that we can't trust human beings.
That's her sort of modus operandi.
The father in Canada is all about living in touch with nature and being at one with nature and being part of it.
Inti really picks this up and it becomes part of her at this stage of the book much more so than the mother's influence.
She's seen some stuff by the time we get to her in Scotland, that's for sure.
So she's in Scotland working in her role as a wolf scientist.
I'm sure that there's a correct term for that that I'm missing, Kate.
But the idea is that her and a group of scientists have brought wolves to Scotland to repopulate the highlands with these wolves.
The rewilding will set back the environmental damage that centuries of farming has done to this extraordinary landscape.
Along with that comes townsfolk who are very much, or some townsfolk who are very much against this because their livelihoods are threatened.
And as you alluded to a bit earlier, humans have this very, very complicated relationship with wolves.
So Inti also has to deal with that.
