So there is a lot of magical thinking and superstitious thoughts around pretty much every action that you can take.

I feel like if somebody's having a baby, there's a bunch of superstition and things you can't do to tempt the fairies to do whatever it is the fairies are going to do.

So I guess by setting it in Scotland and in the Highlands,

And having wolves, we're automatically in that mood.

You know, we feel like maybe there's some sort of fairy tale-y magic that's going to happen.

And whether there does or not, that's something that the reader will need to discover.

It kept me reading.

I mean, I felt like this was a story that started very slowly, but as it gathered speed, it twisted and turned.

And it was surprising to me pretty much most of the way through.

So I felt that the marriage of all of those things that you just talked about really settled in very, very well about halfway through the book.

You know, I wasn't surprised to read that Charlotte has a background in screenwriting.

This book felt to me that it gathered pace in a very similar way to a thriller that we'd see on the big screen.

Yeah, it's funny you say that, Kate, because at the beginning of it, I thought to myself, you know what, if I didn't have to read this, I wouldn't still be reading it.

I don't know, it felt slow to me, even though actually it wasn't.

When I look back on it, it wasn't a slow beginning.

We've got action within this book from the get-go.

But by about halfway through, I was committed to finishing it.

And I have since started another fiction book.

So I think it was the one to get me out of my malaise.
