I'm sorry for blowing your ears off.
And then my three-year-old put her hands over her ears like, mom, he's going to blow my ears off.
He's going to blow my ears off.
I said, no, he's not.
He's just, but how do you explain a figure of speech to a three-year-old?
I tried to, but, so she was petrified of this clown.
And she has been speaking to me a lot since saying, I'm scared of the clown.
I'm scared of the clown.
So I, it was my, my gut instinct at the beginning was to say, you don't need to be scared of the clown.
Don't be scared.
But then I thought, well, actually, if she ever is really scared of somebody for some reason, doesn't feel comfortable with somebody, I don't want her to feel like if she comes and says that to me that I'm just going to say, no, you shouldn't be scared of them.
They're fine.
So what I said was, it's OK that you're scared.
You can always tell mummy.
Mummy's not scared of that clown.
I feel really brave, so I can help you.
I don't really know if that was the right thing to say, but I love that.
I think that's really beautiful.
you know let's go check in the mirror did they actually blow off no they're still there yeah and it's so you're saying too is it's okay to to change what you've said if you go actually maybe I would have said that different on reflection just go and have a conversation with your child because it might still open up the discussion that you want to have
Yeah, and good modelling too, I guess, because that's the kind of thing you want your children to do if they've made a mistake is to reflect on it and then correct it as well.
