It's actually just protecting that relationship.
What are the boundaries you need to do to do that, to protect the connection?
Do you not make them apologize because you would like an apology to come from a place where they have wanted to give the apology or is there a specific reason?
Oh, we've all heard that.
Sorry.
What do you do when you have differing thoughts on where the boundaries should be than the other person parenting them?
So it's okay, I guess, be on the same page about boundaries, but you don't have to be on the same exact line, you know?
Are you saying that, you know, have some general pillars or themes, I guess, for the boundaries that you set, but don't stress if you're not doing exactly the same thing if you have slightly different opinions on that.
Who would you say this book is for in terms of age range or, you know, who do you think would get the most from it?
I mean, boundaries, I guess, are applicable to such a wide range, really, of children.
This is Jen's upcoming book, Why Kids Need Boundaries.
Before we go though, I do really want to bring up one of the things that you speak about with your high-low Buffalo cards, because I think this may have been how I first discovered you and what you do as well.
And we have found that to be so useful in our family.
We don't use it every night,
But I have just been amazed at the way in which we have been able to draw out things that really I don't think would have been brought up in terms of anxieties that my children have had that they probably wouldn't have just come out with.
And also as a way to address, you know, if there's been some perhaps challenging behaviour towards them or from them at school, it's just a really low level.
kind of slow pressure yeah low pressure it's not an invasive way of asking about it it's just like okay what what are we going to tease out of you here um but do you want to explain the high low buffalo cards and and what it's all about and how it can be helpful
And it's kind of the way to draw those who might be reluctant to talk about the high-low in because they're like, oh, stick around for the fun of it.
Yeah, they are very, very cool.
And yeah, in our case, it was, we hadn't done it for a few nights and then we said, oh, let's do Hilo Buffalo.
