When I was fighting vampires in 30 Days of Night, I came home from a night shoot covered in blood and I set up the camera.
Instead of doing the audition of four pages for Entreatment, I did 40 as a monologue.
No.
That went for like I think maybe an hour of recording and then I condensed it and shipped it off during the night to LA covered in blood from vampires, not having slept all night, and I got the part and,
I got the part in In Treatment as the psycho patient Laura and the whole show was shot in one room.
And this for me was one of the highlights.
And I remind myself daily now that when you go the extra effort for a casting, when you put yourself just a little bit more for any job, this speaks for any job in the world, just go a little bit further than what they...
what they've asked, you may get the benefits back.
And this was one moment for me where, you know, the hard work was put in, the craziness of the fact that I did the whole show for them as an audition, showed them that I'm a bit crazy, which is Laura, the character anyway.
And so there was a lot of similarities that I showed them that I would be the perfect one for the job.
This story actually, I haven't told anybody, but
I got the part, but I was fighting vampires in the snow in New Zealand and they couldn't ship me out to shoot the pilot for In Treatment that I got.
So we somehow said to the producers, I'll put my double in to do the background walking.
And I quickly flew to LA for two days to shoot the pilot of In Treatment.
and then fly back.
And the producer of 30 Days of Night called the set of In Treatment in LA and said to the director, Rodrigo Garcia, congratulations on your first day of shooting.
How's it going?
Who did you get for Laura?
And Rodrigo Garcia said, I got Melissa George.
And the producer in New Zealand's like, what?
