We move all of the stuff around client meetings, ordering of materials, returning materials, quality assurance, meeting with inspectors, like all of that stuff.
And we actually go through the process of assigning a number of hours, like treating that like a labor rate.
And we have 12 what we call cope codes, the cost of project execution codes that we scatter throughout the estimate.
Again, invoicing and paying bills, anything that needs to exist because that project exists should be a direct cost of the project.
And it isn't overhead.
And then overhead is actually really a reflection of your real overhead, right?
This is your marketing budget, your insurance, like all that stuff.
And then the last piece is that profit is a responsive.
If you want to use a multiplier, great.
If you want to use a fixed number, great.
But it's what's the market condition?
What can I charge?
What can I make on this project?
And when we started implementing this, we saw small projects.
We were probably running something close to 84% markup.
um and on big projects you know million two three four whatever um we were gonna bring that with that number was coming way way down and it actually allowed us to adjust for what the project actually was totally right if you know you've got two litigious clients on a really difficult lot um you're going to be having a lot of client meetings and that single margin multiplier is not going to understand like the cogs aren't going to tell you the story about the project totally
