If you don't achieve your overhead, if you haven't met your overhead burden in that time period, your company is eating into its profit and inevitably losing money.
So, yeah, you've got to know...
You don't have to know your stuff.
You could choose to not know your stuff.
But I just think it's more fun when you can feel good about the projects that you're taking on.
Funny that you said that.
I made that comment in a talk I was giving once.
I said, you've got 244 days to produce.
And some guy raised his hand and said, my crews work every day.
And I was like, your crew hates you and they're going to leave you.
yeah yeah yeah like you can't we're talking about people here right end of the day also you know it's people right your employees are people your clients are people you got to be realistic uh we're not working the boiler room here and no one's taking I mean maybe people work every day of the year if they're bringing home six million but that's not very many people right uh so I do think
the language you use being tactical is smart, I like that.
Know the parameters, know what you really have to work with, be realistic about how many hours you have, how many days you have, what your resources look like, how much you can stack particular jobs of a particular sort.
When you build projects out using a Gantt chart and you have resource allocation,
where you can better manage your resources so that you're eliminating, you know, downtime or that you're efficiently stacking your projects.
So, you know, demo moves from demo to demo to demo to demo to demo and framing moves from framing to framing to framing, you know, rather than, oh, we've got a gap here, we've got a gap there in how you build out your schedule.
The types of jobs you take, I think that's a big learning curve for a lot of folks, realizing, understanding what jobs they can and cannot do
take while still maintaining their profitability.
And if you've got folks like, yeah, but I really want to take care of, you know, this client over here with the 16 cats, I feel so bad for them.
