JBL used to tell me a great thing when he was one of the top heels in our business when he was WWE champion 20 years ago.
He used to tell me that I'm a bad guy.
I'm a heel.
The company came to me and wanted me to sell JBL merchandise.
I refused to do it.
I don't want people wearing my stuff in the crowd despite the paycheck because I'm a bad guy.
People need to hate me.
Why do I want people out there wearing my gear and supporting me if I'm a bad guy?
And that sort of, the light bulb sort of went on with me at that point and said, oh my, you know, this is, you've got to buy into this.
You know, despite the fact that they're real, that we're real people outside of here and we're really actors, right?
You've got to buy into that character and you have to live it and you have to breathe it in order for this business to be believable, in order for the audience to buy into what we're doing.
And I think the people that are successful here are the people that are able to do that.
Those who don't make it aren't able to buy in to their character 100%.
And I think the second thing was emotion.
This is something that you cannot teach.
